On March 1st, 1994 Nirvana played what turned out to be their last ever show, in Munich, Germany. The band had several further European dates scheduled but according to Grohl the whole band were feeling worn out and so at the show Grohl claims Kurt wrecked his voice on purpose so they would have to cancel the remaining shows, and the band could return home.
Dave initially stayed in Germany to film a promo video for the Backbeat Band. Kurt had flown to Italy and whilst there suffered an overdose on Rohypnol and Champagne, putting him into a coma. He awoke from the Coma on March 5th and flew home to Seattle on March 8th. It's not clear when Dave flew home to Seattle but it was no later than March 8th as the next day he was back at Laundry Room Studio in the City.
The future of Nirvana as a band was extremely questionable at this point and so Dave had decided to continue recording his own material with Barrett Jones. The only known song recorded on this day is 'Big Me' although it's likely other songs were also worked on.
