Session Information

In early February Foo Fighters were promoting their tenth studio album, 'Medicine At Midnight', virtually due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The band recorded several tracks live at their studio 606 facility which were then sent to broadcasters around the world for airing at later dates. As well as airing these live tracks two broadcasters in the UK, Virgin Radio and Radio 1, broadcast two cover songs, 'You Should Be Dancing', originally by The Bee Gees and 'Shadow Dancing', a track by the trios younger brother Andy Gibb.

It was clear from the broadcast these covers were not played and recorded entirely live in Studio 606 as the other tracks were, they were recorded as studio tracks with individual instrumentation recording, overdubs and use of vocal isolation for a much more polished sound.

Dave Grohl was interviewed by the broadcasters at the time and inferred that the covers were just recorded for fun with not much to do owing to the pandemic. It was then revealed in late June 2021 that the two covers, along with three others, would be released on 'Hail Satin', a mini Bee Gee's tribute album for Record Store Day 2021, with the band dubbed as the Dee Gees.

It is currently unknown exactly when the five tracks were recorded but it can't have been any later than February 5th, 2021, as that is when 'Shadow Dancing' was first broadcast.

'Hail Satin' was released on Vinyl on July 17th, 2021.
