Session Information
The band were at Clatter And Din studios in Seattle to play tracks and partake in an interview for the syndicated US radio show 'Rockline', hosted by Bob Coburn. The show was broadcast live and the band performed several tracks in the studio acoustically with interview segments and studio tracks in between. 'For All The Cows', 'How I Miss You', 'Wattershed' and 'How I Miss You' were all performed however 'Wattershed' was performed in a unique manner, as explained by Grohl - "There's a song on our album called Wattershed and it's sorta this fast, loud, crazy song and it's about absolutely nothing. So what I think would be fitting, and fun, would be to play 'Wattershed' and instead of me singing it I'm going to tell you a story, in the voice of Fred Scheider from the B-52s."
It isn't known if Dave improvised the story or wrote it earlier but at the end of the performance he claimed it was indeed all improv. However given the perfect delivery it seems more likely it was probably pre-written and Dave was being flippant. The full story told over the music was as follows:
Went to Vancouver
Drove in the car
Two hour trip
Not really that far
Sure was a nice drive
It was kind of sunny
Isn't that funny
Got to the hotel
Valet parking man
Asked if he could park the car
I said sure you can
He took the keys started to drive away
He'll be back someday
Earlier that day
I stopped at dairy queen
It was great
Had a Chili dog
I'm such a hog
It was so tasty
My skin is kinda pasty
I sure liked that meal
That's the way I feel
I actually had some fries
And I wore a disguise
I wore a mask
And put some liquir in my flask
In the sun I will bask
The valet man found a can
In the back of the truck
What the...
He ask me if I wanted
For him to dispose of the bag
I said sure
Throw it away man
But what was most funny
About this perculiar little bunny
Was the way he said he said it
He said pardon me
May i dispose of your dairy queen bag?
