Foo Fighters have today (February 19) taken the covers off the next chapter of their storied career with the announcement of 'Your Favourite Toy', their 12th studio album which will be released worldwide on April 24th, 2026.

As is customary the announcement was accompanied by a new single, the title track from the album which was released to all the usual online streaming platforms. Listen to the single 'Your Favourite Toy' now.

The album will feature 10 tracks, three of which are now already familiar to us. As well as the title track the album also includes 'Asking For A Friend', released as a standalone single last October and 'Unconditional', a track the band played live a handful of times in 2024. This release will therefore mark the first time we will be able to hear the studio version of a track which was said at the time to be an older track that the band had decided to re-approach.

  1. Caught In The Echo
  2. Of All People
  3. Window
  4. Your Favorite Toy
  5. If You Only Knew
  6. Spit Shine
  7. Unconditional
  8. Child Actor
  9. Amen, Caveman
  10. Asking For A Friend

In a newsletter email to fans Dave explained that the title track was the catalyst for the whole record:

“'Your Favorite Toy' really was the song that unlocked the tone and energetic direction of the new album. We stumbled upon it after experimenting with different sounds and dynamics for over a year, and the day it took shape I knew that we had to follow its lead. It was the fuse to the powder keg of songs we wound up recording for this record. It feels new.”

With the typical album announcement information dump the musical lineup, as well as production lineup, have been revealed and the credits for all aspects of the album are very familiar.

New boy Ilan Rubin of course takes the drumsticks for the first time on a full-length Foo Fighters album alongside Dave Grohl (Guitar, Vocals), Nate Mendel (Bass), Chris Shiflett (Guitar) and Rami Jaffee (Piano, Keyboards).

We expect these are simplified credits for now however, with backing vocals likely to have come from one or more members as well as some other minor credits that may not have been revealed just yet.

No details have been provided so far with regards to location and date, the band simply stating the record has been produced "at home". We've already seen photos of the band at Studio 606 and Dave's home studio in teaser videos, likely what they are alluding to.

In terms of non-musical credits you'll also find familiar names with production credited to the band and in-house Studido 606 producer Oliver Roman, the producer having worked with the band since 2021's 'Dee Gees' EP. Mark Stent has mixed the album, as he did for the previous two albums 'Medicine At Midnight' and 'But Here We Are', whilst Emily Lazar mastered the record - Lazar last worked with the band on 2011's 'Wasting Light'.

If the artwork has a familiar feel to past releases that is because long time collaborators Morning Breath Inc. have once again been in the hot seat. Morning Breath has worked with the band for almost 20 years on numerous productions including concert posters, promo websites and merch and this is their third album cover following their work for 'Wasting Light' and 'Medicine At Midnight'.

There are multiple physical versions of 'Your Favorite Toy' on offer, including a standard CD and Vinyl record plus at least two "special" wax versions have been spotted so far - a "Web Exclusive" Metallic Silver version available on the official band stores as well as an "Indie exclusive" Opaque Red version which is availalble, unsurprisingly, at Indie record stores across the globe.

These special edition Vinyl versions also feature alternate artwork with a blue strip replacing the yellow on the regular version and an orange stripe doing the same on the Indie version.

No bonus tracks are slated for any version, the same ten tracks listed for all variations so far.
